But before you start tackling spring-cleaning tasks, take a few minutes to add these often-forgotten spots to your to-do list. When you’ve finished, you can rest assured knowing you’ve spring-cleaned your house thoroughly, from top to bottom.

Kitchen

Dishwasher

Use Mr. Clean Multi-Surfaces Spray and a paper towel to wipe down the outside of the dishwasher, making sure to clean the handle and buttons. Then run an empty, extra-hot dishwashing cycle with Cascade Dishwasher Cleaner to help eliminate odors, grease and limescale buildup.

Small appliances

Your coffee maker, stand mixer, microwave and toaster get regular use, so make sure to give them some TLC!

  • To clean your coffee maker, fill the water chamber with equal parts white vinegar and water. Let it brew until half the chamber is empty, and then turn it off and let it sit for 30 minutes. Allow it to finish brewing. To rinse, run another brew cycle using water only
  • Wipe down your stand mixer with a damp paper towel. Remove stuck-on food residue with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Hand wash the mixing bowl and attachments with Dawn Ultra Dish Soap
  • Use these five handy tips from our friends at P&G everyday when you clean the inside and outside of your microwave
  • Cleaning your toaster is easy with P&G everyday’s five-step guide

Refrigerator

Cleaning your fridge regularly will keep your food fresher for longer and can even save you money.

Garbage can

To thoroughly clean your garbage can, take it to the back patio, add a squirt of Dawn Ultra Dish Soap and hose it out with the garden hose. Let it drip dry. Remove any remaining grime with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

Bedrooms

Pillows and duvets

In addition to washing your sheets, make sure to toss your pillows, duvet covers and comforters into the washing machine. For pillows, check the care instructions on the tag. If they can be dried, toss them in the dryer with a tennis ball to help them keep their shape.

Tip: To freshen pillows, comforters and other hard-to-launder items between washes, spray them with Febreze FABRIC to eliminate odors and leave behind a clean scent.

Closets

While you’re cleaning the bedrooms, make sure to give the closets some attention too. Sort through clothing, weed out unwanted or ill-fitting items and then donate or toss them.

Living areas

Curtains

You’re probably already planning to wash the windows, but make sure to clean the curtains, too! Many curtains are made from hard-to-wash or delicate fabrics. Remove odors from them with a spritz of Febreze FABRIC.

Ceiling fans

Don’t forget to look up! Hard-to-reach places like ceiling fans, crown molding and ceiling corners are easily overlooked during spring cleaning. Reach them all with ease – and trap and lock dust and dirt in the process – with a Swiffer 360 Duster Extender.

Upholstery

After vacuuming and/or steam cleaning your couches and upholstered chairs, spray with Febreze FABRIC to remove stubborn odors.

Bathroom

Shower curtain

Toss your shower curtain and liner into the washing machine to clean them. Dry the shower curtain following the care tag instructions and hang the liner in the shower to drip dry.

Tub and sink drains

Pour a pot of boiling water down the drain, followed by 4 cups of vinegar to deodorize. If the drain is sluggish, use a drain cleaner or a drain-unclogging tool to remove built-up debris or hair.

Toothbrush holder

This task is easy – just toss the toothbrush holder into the dishwasher with a Cascade Platinum Plus ActionPac.
